Honeywell is embarking on a significant expansion at our Spokane, Washington plant, a strategic initiative that underscores our commitment to shaping the future of the semiconductor industry. Honeywell is the only US-headquartered company that produces ultra-high purity copper alloy and titanium sputtering targets, which are used to make leading-edge semiconductors.

Sputtering targets are precisely machined objects used to deposit very fine layers of metal on silicon chips. Honeywell manufactures these targets in Spokane and is relentlessly working to expand production through process innovation, plant modernization and automation.

With our pivotal presence in the semiconductor market, which is projected to reach a trillion dollars by 2030, our investment represents a bold step towards further enhancing our supply chain and driving innovation in the manufacturing of semiconductor materials.

This expansion is centered on modernizing our existing facilities, emphasizing automation and upstream supply chain improvements. By integrating cutting-edge technologies, we aim to optimize our manufacturing processes, increasing efficiency and flexibility while responding adeptly to market demands and delivering high-quality products to our customers.

To achieve these objectives, a cross-functional team has identified productivity improvements and circularity opportunities in the current target manufacturing process, including:

• Reclaiming and recycling manufacturing trimmings and returned targets from customers
• Implementing casting improvements and closed-die forge process technologies
• Developing a new, high-efficiency copper refining process
• Using automation and robotics in target machining

Moreover, our dedication to sustainability remains a cornerstone of our growth strategy. We are implementing initiatives designed to cut CO₂ emissions by approximately 308 metric tons each year, showcasing our commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
